Metal window items as an accessory for building wooden ship models, supplied separately.
Responsibility details are not available.
Metal window items for wooden ship models. The Spanish ventanas means windows, and the second word in the name states the material: the items are metal. A modeler uses them to replace window openings that would be hard to cut in a wooden wall and whose shape would differ a little with every further opening. A metal item, by contrast, holds its size and shape the same across a whole run of windows.
First measure out the placement of the windows according to the plan of the model and mark it on the wood. Drill the opening and widen it with a file in small steps until the item seats without pressure; trying it dry pays off, as wood once removed cannot be added back. To join metal to wood use super glue or epoxy and apply it sparingly, so that it does not run onto the visible side. Cement for plastic kits will not hold this joint.
Wash and degrease the metal before painting, otherwise the paint will peel off. Apply a base paint meant for metal first, then the covering shade, and do so in thin coats so that the edges of the item are not flooded. Finish the neighboring wooden areas before you fit the windows and you will save yourself some masking. Finally, look at the finished row of windows from a distance: uneven spacing or a slight rotation is visible from a meter away sooner than a small imperfection of the surface. Glazing is handled separately, usually with clear film glued in from the inside.
The metal items alone are supplied. The ship model, glue, paints and glazing film are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
