VINYL STICKER ORANGE

Orange film with a cut-out drawing

The cut sticker measuring 100 x 56 mm is made in colored vinyl film, that is, in the material used for the graphics on cars, shop windows and advertising surfaces. The motif is treated as a negative: the orange stays as the area around the drawing and the outline itself is cut out, so the base shows through it. On black paint, therefore, the outline turns black and the orange around it stands out.

Where it can be placed

The adhesive takes hold on smooth, non-porous surfaces. It holds without trouble on window glass, on painted sheet metal, on hard plastic and on a metal cabinet. It fits on a narrow body pillar, on the lid of a toolbox, on a cooler, on a laptop or on the door of a cupboard above a workbench. The film is intended for outdoor use, it takes direct sun as well as rain and its surface can be washed.

How it looks on different bases

On a white surface the outline merges with its surroundings and only the orange shape is left. On a dark surface, by contrast, the drawing is picked out sharply. Before sticking it down, therefore, it pays to offer the film up dry, step back and see whether the place you have chosen gives the motif enough contrast. On coarsely grained plastic or on porous plaster the bond does not hold; there you have to look for another surface.

Before you press it down

First wash and degrease the area. Even a thin film of wax or silicone holds the film only in appearance and the bond will come loose after a few days. Let the base dry, offer the sticker up by one edge and lower the other slowly toward the surface, so that no air is trapped under it. In frost the adhesive sets more slowly, so put the job off until you are in a heated room.

This is a souvenir item with the maker's logo, not a waterslide decal for a kit. The thickness of the film and the type of adhesive are entirely different and the motif would not fit on a part in scale.
