About product

Vivid Orange Rust

This is a solvent-based enamel filter with finely dispersed pigments and a transparent effect. Unlike a wash, which brings out detail, a filter shifts the tone of a whole surface; here it adds a deep orange cast of beginning, fresh rust. It gets the process of rusting going nicely and unifies the color transitions.

What it is and what it is not

  • It IS a transparent toning filter that gently tints the surface.
  • It is NOT a covering paint or a loose pigment; it will not hide the surface underneath.

Use

  • Apply it with a soft medium round brush to the surfaces whose tone you want to change.
  • The product is ready to use and thinning is usually unnecessary; it is thinned with mineral spirits.
  • Let it dry for about 15 minutes and layer it as needed.
  • Combine it with other rust shades and pigments for three-dimensional corrosion.

Who it is for

For modelers of vehicles and dioramas who want to get rusting going realistically and to bring the color transitions to life. Suitable for advanced builders as well as motivated beginners.

It contains solvents. Work in a well-ventilated area, protect your airways and keep it away from flame.

FAQ

Neither. It is a transparent filter that only tints the surface; it will not hide the base and it is not a loose powder.

A filter shifts the tone of a whole surface, while a wash runs into recesses and brings out detail.

As a rule no, it is ready to use. Mineral spirits will handle the excess and the cleaning.

For starting off rusting and bringing the orange tones of corrosion on vehicles to life.
