This is a set of hand-modeled and hand-painted figures in the railroad scale HO, that is 1:87. It is not a kit and not an unpainted casting; all the pieces are finished and complete in color down to the small details. The Scenic Accents line is built precisely on the fact that a modeler gets a usable vignette at once, without painting and without waiting for anything to dry.
The set tells a small story: the dog has other plans for the freshly washed laundry than the housewife does. Besides the figures it also holds elements of a domestic scene with laundry, so that a whole vignette in a back yard can be put together from it. Humorous details of this kind are part of the reason why figures are put on a layout at all, as a visitor stops at them longer than at a row of standing pedestrians. The motif suits the area behind a residential house, a country homestead or a trackside railroad house.
The figures are supplied finished and hand-painted, so it is enough to place them in a scene. Tweezers help with precise seating, and a drop of PVA or cyanoacrylate glue is enough for permanent fixing. In soft terrain it pays off to push the vegetation aside, so that the base sits on a firm surface and the figure stands straight. The detail can be brought out further with a dark wash run into the folds of the clothing and with a light lift of the edges using a dry brush; a final coat of matte varnish unifies the gloss and protects the paint against rubbing and dust.
The figures are supplied finished and hand-painted. Glue, terrain materials and further accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
