A set of waterslide decals with Roman numerals. It is neither a kit nor a paint but an accessory for a finished and painted model. Roman numerals suit the numbering of units and detachments, the marking of the order of models in a formation, shields, banners, bases and also signs and boundary markers in a diorama. Painting small numerals by hand is slow and hard to repeat the same way, while a decal gives a clean and sharp shape the first time.
Cut the character out as close to the edge of the printing as possible, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest until the backing paper starts to slide. Move the design to its place, straighten it with a soft brush and draw the excess water off with a towel. With small numerals watch the orientation, as they cannot be moved once dry. The base has to be glossy, otherwise air is trapped under the film and a light edge comes about around the character, what is called silvering.
Varnish the area under the decal with a gloss varnish and let it cure. On rounded shields or on a surface with relief, use a decal softener and let it act without touching it. If you want the numbering to be the same across a whole unit, lay out on paper first which model gets which number, and only then cut. Once dry, unify the surface with a matte or satin varnish, which sinks the edges of the film into the paint.
The decals are an accessory, not a kit. Paints, varnishes and a softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
