About product

Aber photo-etched welds (Weld lines)

This is a photo-etched brass accessory from the Polish brand Aber, not a model. The set consists of thin strips with the relief of a weld bead, with which realistic welds between the armor plates of the hull, the turret and the superstructures are finished off on a model.

What the accessory is for

The welded armor of real vehicles has pronounced, irregular beads, which are lost on smooth plastic parts. Photo-etched welds glued on create a sharp transition, fine in scale, which plain paint or putty will not achieve. The strips are cut to the length needed and laid along the joints. The accessory is general-purpose for models of armored vehicles, typically in 1:35 scale.

Fitting tips

Cut the strip off with a sharp knife or with shears for photo-etched parts, lay it along the seam and fix it at points with cyanoacrylate glue, then finish gluing it along its whole length. For a smoother junction the transitions can be blended in lightly. Once it has cured, spray a primer over it so that the paint holds on the metal.

Who the accessory is for

  • Modelers who want realistic welds without filling with putty
  • Detailed builds of armored vehicles
  • Combining with further photo-etched sets

An accessory, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
