Thirty-five low grass tufts two millimeters high in a faded beige tone. Suited to trodden road edges and dry areas.

Two millimeters is the shortest length offered in this line and their usefulness lies precisely in that. Low grass comes across inconspicuously in a scene, but without it every area looks artificially smooth and the terrain depicted loses its sense of scale. Converted to reality, two millimeters in 1:35 corresponds to roughly seven centimeters of growth, that is to a trodden road edge or a freshly mown lawn. In smaller scales, such as 1:72 or railway sizes, the same height already represents quite tall grass, so the same package serves in an entirely different role.
Faded beige is the color of grass burned by the sun or dried up in the fall. It suits airfields, dusty roads, southern landscapes, the halves of steppe scenes and everywhere dryness is meant to show. In spring it comes across as out of place, whereas in combination with green tufts it creates a natural transition between a damper and a parched place.
The most frequent mistake tends to be regularity. Grass does not grow at intervals but in clusters: let several tufts touch one another, leave a bare area elsewhere and put sparsely scattered single ones in places where a seed would really have got, that is at the foot of walls, into the edges of tracks and along curbs. The underside of a tuft is provided with an adhesive layer, but on rough or dusty terrain it pays to add a drop of thinned white glue.
Thirty-five separate tufts placed on a common backing, from which they are lifted one at a time as needed. Keep the backing once part of the tufts has been taken; the rest will last on it ready for further use.
