A modeling tool from the Polish maker Aber intended for a single but very useful task: to cut wire into sections of the same length. Everyone who has ever tried to make a set of rivets, pins or spacers by hand knows the problem - measuring every little piece separately is tedious and the result varies all the same. With this aid you set the length once and the further pieces come out identical.
Work over a tray or over a bowl - small offcuts like to fly off and you will never find them in a carpet again. It is a good idea to level the ends of the cut pieces with a stone or a fine-grained file so that they bed down straight. With soft wires such as copper or brass the cut comes out clean; with harder materials reckon with greater wear and work slowly instead. Make a note of the length you set so that you can come back to it later.
It will be valued by more advanced modelers who make their details themselves - scratchbuilders, makers of conversions, builders of large scales and everyone who needs a larger number of absolutely identical small parts. For a modeler who builds strictly out of the box it is more of a supplementary aid.
