The package holds eight wooden round rods 4 millimeters in diameter and 250 millimeters long. It is not a model or a kit but the material from which a modeler makes the part he needs at the time. The rod cuts, sands, stains and glues well and, unlike a plastic profile, it keeps the grain of wood, which in some places on a model looks more natural than any imitation. The 4 millimeter diameter is one of the most used sizes, because it covers a wide range of small structural features.
Cut the rod with a sharp modeling saw and not with pliers, otherwise the end will fray. Level the cut face with fine abrasive paper. White glue for wood works well for wood-to-wood joints; for a joint with plastic or metal, reach for super glue. Wood is absorbent, so apply a primer or at least a thin sealing coat before painting, otherwise the first coat will soak in unevenly and the fibers will rise. If you want to keep the look of the wood, use a stain and seal the surface with matte varnish.
The rods will be used by builders of ship models, makers of dioramas and anyone who makes some of the parts themselves instead of looking for a ready accessory. The material also serves as ordinary workshop stock, because it gets used up as the work goes on.
This is a building material, not a kit. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package.
