X-6 Orange 23ml

Tamiya X-6 Orange 23 ml — Gloss Acrylic Orange

X-6 Orange is a modeling paint, not a kit. The jar holds 23 ml, and the paint belongs to Tamiya's acrylic line: it is water-thinnable, and for an airbrush it is thinned with X-20A thinner. Watch out for confusing it with the enamel (solvent-based) version of the same shade number, which is thinned with the X-20 thinner without the letter A — both lines exist side by side. The prefix X means a gloss finish (matte shades carry the prefix XF). The shade is a rich, signal-style orange.

How to work with it

• Orange has weaker covering power — apply it over a light base (a white or light gray undercoat), or it will darken and need many coats.
• Build up several thin coats rather than one heavy one — a heavy coat of a saturated pigment easily floods fine detail.
• Suitable for airbrush and brush; for the airbrush, thin it with X-20A.
• A gloss finish is a good base under decals — decals will not silver on it. A matte surface, by contrast, does cause silvering, so apply a matte varnish only after decals, as the final step.
