Six acrylic shades of 17 ml each in the yellow part of the spectrum, from a pale yellow to a golden and a light brown. They serve for smooth shading of yellow areas.

Anyone who has ever painted a yellow machine knows the problem: a pure yellow has poor covering power and over a dark base it shows through greenish or brownish. Gradual layering from the lightest tone toward a rich one helps, and this set of six is prepared for exactly that. It includes a pale and a rich yellow, a bold volcanic yellow, a sand shade and two browns with which yellow is pulled into shadow without turning into a dirty gray.
The range is not meant for figures alone. It serves for warning stripes on equipment, for construction machinery, for wooden crates and tool handles, for straw and dry grass in a diorama and for aircraft desert finishes as well. The golden brown and the light brown can handle leather and wood on their own, so the set has uses beyond yellow areas too.
It works well to lay down a light base first, then a richer tone in thin coats and the shadow only at the end. Each further coat should be thinned more than the one before, so that the transition is not abrupt. The covering power of yellow pigments varies, so reckon with the rich tone needing two passes. The paints have to be shaken thoroughly before use, because settled pigment otherwise comes out unevenly.
