About product

Yellow RAL 1003, 17 ml — AK

A modeling paint in a 17 ml bottle. It is not a kit — it is the shade itself, a signal yellow matching RAL 1003. The binder is lacquer (nitro), not acrylic: it thins with the lacquer thinner of the same line, not water. It dries to a lightly matte finish and, in thin coats, holds sharp edges, which suits narrow stripes and markings.

What RAL 1003 is

RAL 1003 Signalgelb is a rich signal yellow — a color designed to be seen. In practice it is used wherever something needs to draw attention or warn: hazard and safety markings, bumpers and barriers, technical and agricultural machinery, handling equipment, and infrastructure elements. On a model it is therefore typically an accent color rather than a large area — stripes, markings, warning areas, warning elements, or occasionally an entire piece of equipment painted a rich yellow.

Yellow covers poorly — plan for it

Yellow pigments, along with red, are among the poorest covering colors. Applied directly over dark plastic or a dark base, it will look dirty, greenish, and will need many coats — which in turn buries the detail. The solution is a light-colored base: spray a white (or light gray) base coat first, and only then apply the yellow in two or three thin coats. The result will be rich and even far sooner.

Use

  • Warning and signal areas, stripes, and markings on equipment.
  • Vehicles painted a rich yellow — construction, agricultural, and handling equipment.
  • Details and warning elements where the color needs to stand out.
  • Always over a white or light-colored base — otherwise the yellow will not cover.
  • Airbrush: thin coats, thin with the line's lacquer thinner.

Who it is for

For modelers who need a truly rich, eye-catching yellow for markings, warning areas, or yellow-painted equipment, and who do not want to fight a pale, poorly covering shade.

The paint is flammable and solvent-based. Work in a well-ventilated space, wear a respirator when spraying, and protect your skin and eyes. It is not a kit — the paint is sold on its own.

FAQ

No. Although the shade is often grouped with acrylic paints, this is a lacquer (nitro) based paint. It thins with the lacquer thinner made for this line, not with water.

Yellow pigments cover worse than any other color. Over a dark base they need many coats and still look dirty. Spray a white or light gray base coat first, and only then apply two or three thin coats of yellow.
