About product

Yellow Wash from the Wargame Series range by AK interactive

A yellow wash is a liquid weathering product that is applied onto a dried coat of paint. Thanks to its low density it runs into the recesses, gaps and engraved lines by itself, where a darker deposit is left once dry, while the raised places stay light. A model quickly gains depth and three-dimensionality by it. A wash works with detail: it brings it out and separates the individual areas from one another, unlike a filter, which shifts the tone of a whole area at once.

Use

  • Stir the contents of the bottle thoroughly before work, as the pigment settles at the bottom when standing.
  • Apply it only onto a completely dried base coat. The wash flows best over a smooth, even surface.
  • Touch the brush to the detail and let the product run in by itself; do not push it across the surface.
  • Draw the surplus off with a clean, only slightly moistened brush shortly after application, before the surface dries.
  • A yellow shade suits toning light surfaces, sandy and desert bases, wood, leather and the fabric parts of fantasy figures.
  • The procedure can be repeated in several light layers until an area has the depth you want.

Who it is for

The Wargame Series range is built for players of tabletop games who paint a larger number of figures and need a simple, quick way to get shadow onto a model. It serves just as well modelers of scale models and dioramas who are after bringing out rivets, panel lines and cast detail. It is a good idea to choose the particular shade from the range according to the base color it will be applied over.

Keep out of the reach of children, work in a well ventilated space and protect your eyes and skin. Follow the manufacturer's instructions given on the packaging.

FAQ

A wash runs into the recesses and gaps, where it creates shadow and brings out detail. A filter, by contrast, shifts the tone of a whole area without concentrating in the engraving.

Over completely dried paint. A wash flows better over a smooth, even surface than over a roughened matte one, where it tends to stay where it lands.

Shortly after application, before the surface has dried, draw the surplus off with a clean, only slightly moistened brush, working outward from the detail.

No. The range is intended mainly for them, but it works just as well on scale models of vehicles and aircraft and on diorama bases.
