A modeling pigment in an earth gray shade for weathering. It suits settled dust and dried deposits of soil on the lower areas of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Pigments are applied to a finished model so that it carries the marks of the environment the real subject moved through: settled dust, dried mud in the corners and matte deposits on surfaces no rag ever reached. The earth gray shade sits between gray and brown, so it reads neither as fresh soil nor as exhaust soot. It fits everywhere the surface should look dusty rather than muddy.
It does most of its work on the lower areas and in the places where dirt settles by itself: around the suspension and the running gear, on the fenders, in the pressings of the hull, in the gaps between parts and on the underside of the flying surfaces. On figures it handles dusty boots and the bottoms of trousers, and in dioramas the transition between the model and the base, which otherwise stays too clean.
The pigment holds on a matte surface, while it slides off gloss varnish, so give the model a matte coat before applying it. Work with a soft brush, in thin layers and rather slowly: you can always add more, taking it away is harder. Wipe off the excess with a dry brush and judge the result in daylight, because gray shades read differently under artificial light. To fix it, use a pigment fixer or a carrier fluid according to the manufacturer's instructions, and expect the final varnish to darken the layer and take away some of the dusty look.
The pigment itself is supplied. The model, paints, fixer and brushes are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
