An injection-molded plastic kit of the famous AEC Routemaster double-decker London bus in 1:24 scale from the German maker Revell. It is an extensive and demanding model with a great many parts, and once assembled it reaches a length of around 38 cm. The kit offers a multi-part body with detailed surfaces, a fully fitted interior on both decks, a well-worked cab, an opening engine bay and a chassis with turning wheels. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The AEC Routemaster is one of the best-known symbols of London. It entered service in the middle of the 1950s and became famous for the open boarding platform at the rear, which allowed passengers to get on and off quickly. In its characteristic red paint it served the streets of the British capital for almost half a century before it was withdrawn from scheduled service.
Given the size of the kit it pays to break the build into subassemblies, the chassis, the interior of both decks and the body, and to paint them separately. Join the parts with liquid cement for plastic, spray the body with an airbrush over a filler primer and lay a clear coat over the characteristic red before the decals. Bring the interior to life by differentiating the seats, the grab rails and the floors; pick out the fine engraving and rivets with a dark wash. Glue the glazing with adhesive for clear plastics.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
