About product

Zebranomodel 1:100 AMR 33, a French light reconnaissance tank

An unassembled kit of the light French armored vehicle AMR 33 in 1:100 scale. The small scale is typical of desktop collections and of modelers who want to have a whole range of vehicles of one era side by side at a uniform size. The model is supplied unpainted, and paints and glue are needed to finish it.

The real subject

The AMR 33 came about in the first half of the 1930s as a light reconnaissance vehicle of the French cavalry. A low hull, a small rotating turret with light armament and a running gear designed for fast movement on both paved and country roads are characteristic. The vehicle was conceived as a fast reconnaissance means rather than as a combat tank intended for a direct engagement, which matched its weak armor. It served in units of the French army in the second half of the 1930s and was the predecessor of later improved types of the same category.

Building and painting tips

In 1:100 scale the parts are very small, so work on a light surface and over a shallow box so that nothing disappears on you. Before gluing, check what material the parts are made of and choose the glue accordingly: thin extra-fine cement for injection-molded plastic, super glue for resin. Wash resin castings in lukewarm soapy water before building to rid them of mold release residue. Cut the pour stubs off with a saw or a sharp scalpel, and never snap them. Painting can be managed with a brush, but a fine airbrush gives a more even covering coat. In this scale you create the relief mainly with shading, that is a dark wash in the recesses and a dry brush along the edges. Suggest dust and mud with pigment only sparingly, so that the model does not coarsen.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of interwar armored vehicles
  • Builders of desktop collections in 1:100 scale
  • Modelers building groups of vehicles for a uniform display case
  • Those who want a quick project with no great number of parts

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

The material is not stated here. Look the parts over before building and choose the glue according to whether they are injection-molded plastic or resin.

The extent of the build is small, but the parts are tiny in 1:100 scale. We recommend tweezers, a sharp scalpel and good lighting.

French interwar vehicles are commonly built in green-gray and brown camouflage tones. Choose the particular shade according to the machine selected and the documentation available.

The contents of the package are not stated here. We recommend not counting on decals until you have checked the contents.
