A kit of the French armored car Panhard 178 in its early production form, in 1:100 scale. The maker works the individual versions of this vehicle up separately, so alongside it you will also find the late version and further variants with different turrets. The small scale suits extensive collections, small dioramas and gaming with models.
The Panhard 178 was a French four-wheeled armored car designed in the second half of the 1930s as a reconnaissance vehicle for mechanized units. For an armored car of its day it was a well-armed machine, because in a rotating turret it carried an antiarmor gun supplemented by a machine gun. The vehicle was fast on hard roads and had a good range, but off the road it ran into the limits of a wheeled chassis. It was committed to action in 1940, and some of the vehicles went on to further use outside their original army.
Assemble the chassis with the wheels first and paint it before you fit the hull and the turret. Cut the parts off with a sharp scalpel leaving a margin and clean them up only once they are off the sprue. For injection-molded plastic use thin modeling cement; with resin parts wash them free of release agent and glue them with cyanoacrylate. Fit the gun barrel at the very end. Lay the base on thinly, thin the paint well and spray at low pressure. French multicolor camouflage is well drawn in this scale with a fine brush. Weathering suits mainly the wheels and the lower edges of the hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
