A kit of the modern S-70i multipurpose helicopter in 1:72 scale from the Polish manufacturer Mistercraft. According to the name, the package is aimed at machines in Polish military markings. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The S-70i is the export configuration of the well-known family of twin-engine multipurpose Black Hawk helicopters. It is a machine with a four-blade main rotor, a pair of turboshaft engines and a roomy cargo cabin with sliding doors on both sides. It is used to carry soldiers and materiel, to evacuate the wounded, for search and rescue tasks and for the support of special forces. Series production of this configuration takes place in Poland, at the plant in Mielec, and machines from there go both to domestic operators and for export. Compared with the older versions of the family, the S-70i has modernized avionics and digital onboard systems.
First put the parts together dry and check the fit of the fuselage halves. Glue the plastic with a thin cement for polystyrene. The cabin of a modern helicopter is heavily glazed, so it pays to prepare the interior and the seats beforehand and to mask the glazing. The dark single-color coats that commonly appear on these machines call for careful preparation of the surface, because every imperfection is visible on a dark matte area; a primer and a fine lightening of the centers of the panels will help. Glue the rotor blades on at the end and take care over the correct pitch. Keep the patina restrained, as on machines in service it shows mainly around the exhaust outlets, on the landing gear and in the vicinity of the doors.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
