The model captures an object of the Czechoslovak heavy fortifications listed under the designation K-Am-S 43a with the period name Na sekyre. It comes from the Czech association ROP o.s., which has long specialized in models of the Czechoslovak border fortifications and keeps a continuous numbered series of dozens of objects in this scale. The 1:1000 scale is very small — a finished piece measures only a few centimeters and serves as a collector's model or an element of a landscape model.
Within a construction sector the objects were numbered consecutively, and besides plain numbers the designations also include numbers with a letter, which set a structure apart from an object with the same sequence number. The brand therefore lists K-Am-S 43 and K-Am-S 43a as two separate items. The shared principle remains: a reinforced concrete object set into the ground, a front wall without embrasures turned toward the enemy and fire directed to the flanks to cover the approaches of the neighboring structures.
The key is restraint. A light gray concrete base, a dark wash run into the joints and the embrasures and a fine dry brush a tone lighter will give the object depth without overwhelming its size. Strong effects at this scale look like dirt. A groundwork base, if one is included, is brought to life by static grass in two lengths and fine pigments for the transition between growth and soil. Work with tweezers, dry-fit the parts first and apply the glue with a thin piece of wire, so that it does not run onto visible surfaces.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
