N-Sk-S 48 U stodol is a miniature model of an infantry blockhouse of the Czechoslovak heavy fortifications in 1:1000 scale from the Czech range of the ROP association.
Responsibility details are not available.
This small kit captures an infantry blockhouse of the Czechoslovak heavy fortifications in the uniform collector's scale of 1:1000, in which the whole range of works from the Czech ROP association is published. Thanks to the shared scale the individual blockhouses can be combined, their shapes compared and whole sections of the fortified line gradually put together the way they followed one another in the terrain.
The infantry blockhouse with the code name U stodol, meaning at the barns, was one of the works designed in the Nachod sector of the Czechoslovak fortifications as part of the Skutina fort in the Orlicke Mountains. In the second half of the 1930s the heavy works were built in reinforced concrete to specifications from the Directorate of Fortification Works; the main armament usually pointed to the flanks, so that neighboring blockhouses covered one another with fire. Construction of the Skutina fort was not finished by the autumn of 1938, and after the Munich Agreement the work came to an end.
The miniature needs no more than a basic gray shade of concrete, with a dark wash to pick out the recesses and embrasures and a light lightening of the edges with a dry brush. Mounting it on a small base with a fine scatter of static grass looks effective; if several works are finished in the same way, the result is a clear collection of the whole line that fits on a single shelf.
The miniature is supplied unpainted. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
