Resin engine nacelles for a model of the Boeing 737 MAX in 1:144 scale. The set replaces the parts from a base kit and is fitted to the pylons under the wing. It is not a model of the aircraft, but a detail accessory bought to go with one.
The 1B form arose directly for the Boeing 737 and is the most conspicuous difference between the newest range and the previous generation of the aircraft. Its fan has a smaller diameter than the version for the Airbus, because the 737 has its wing set low above the ground and a larger engine would not fit under it. The designers moreover moved the unit forward and higher on the pylon, so the outline of the front of the nacelle moved ahead of the leading edge. At first glance the range is recognized by two things: the intake is circular, whereas the older generation had the underside of the intake flattened, and the rear edge of the cowling is serrated, that is ended by a row of triangular teeth that dampen noise. Both are usually only suggested on the plastic parts in 1:144 scale, and that is precisely why a resin nacelle pays off.
With a pair of nacelles symmetry is what decides. Cut the pour blocks away with a saw, level both mating surfaces on sanding paper on a shared board and check dry whether they have the same inclination and the same distance from the wing. Only then glue with super glue. The teeth on the rear edge of the cowling are the finest detail of the whole part, so run the sanding paper along them, not across them. Before gluing and painting alike, wash the mold release agent off the castings with warm water and dish soap, and use respiratory protection while sanding.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
