The kit from the manufacturer AMP handles the Canadian twin-engine turboprop aircraft of the Dash 8 family in 1:144 scale. According to the name the package is aimed both at the special American version E-9A Widget and at a machine in the colors of the coast guard. The model is intended for gluing and painting and is supplied unassembled.
The Dash 8 is a regional transport aircraft of Canadian design with a high-mounted wing, a pair of turboprop engines and a T-shaped tail. It was designed for short routes, frequent takeoffs and landings and operation from shorter runways, thanks to which it spread among regional carriers as well as among state and patrol operators all over the world. The version E-9A Widget is a special conversion for monitoring the area over a naval test range. It carries a large flat antenna on the side of the fuselage and further radar equipment under the fuselage, so it differs in silhouette from an ordinary transport machine at first glance. Only a very small number of these aircraft came about and they serve as a telemetry and surveillance platform.
A small scale puts the emphasis on a smooth surface. Fill the fuselage seams carefully and sand them, because light and glossy finishes, typical of civil as well as patrol machines, emphasize every irregularity. Mask the cockpit and the windows, or use decal window strips if they are in the package. Fit the propellers only at the end, so that they do not get in the way during painting. Spray the basic white or light color over primer in several thin layers, otherwise the detail of the engraving will be lost in it. Apply the decals, of which there tend to be many with this type of aircraft, onto gloss clear and fix them with softener, so that they seat into the panel lines. At the end unify the surface with semi-gloss clear and keep the weathering very discreet.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
