Reconnaissance pod with a telephoto lens, 1:144

An accessory set of an underwing reconnaissance pod in the telephoto lens version, in 1:144 scale. It is not an aircraft model but a store, or rather equipment for one. The pod carries the sensors that the aircraft does not have built in, so it is hung on only for a reconnaissance mission and taken off again afterwards.

What it is for

• Adding a store that kits in this scale usually do not include.
• A model built in the reconnaissance configuration.
• Filling the underwing pylons that would otherwise stay empty.
• Replacing a simplified plastic part with a casting without a mold parting line.

Building and painting tips

Cut the parts from the casting blocks with a fine saw and sand the cut face smooth. Wash the resin in lukewarm water with detergent before painting. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). In 1:144 scale the part is very small, so work with tweezers over a light-colored surface. The smooth body of the pod deserves careful sanding and a coat of primer, because every scratch shows on it. Suggest the lens windows with gloss black or a drop of clear varnish.
