A resin engine nacelle for a model of the Airbus A320 in 1:144 scale, this time in the standard marked as late. The set replaces the plastic parts from the base kit and does not form a model on its own. The number of pieces in the package is stated on the box; the aircraft carries two engines.
The A5 subseries of the V2500 engine is the fit carried by part of the A320 family as an alternative to the CFM56 series. The installation was modified over the years and the maker of the set therefore offers two standards, early and later. This item is the later one and it is intended for machines from newer production periods. For a modeler building a particular aircraft from photographs the choice of standard matters as much as the choice of engine fit itself, because both are visible on the finished model. When choosing the standard, go by the documentation for the machine you are building.
Wash the casting in warm water with detergent and let it dry. Cut the casting block off with a saw rather than with pliers and sand the surface flat. Dry-fit the nacelle on the pylon of the base kit, watch that it seats across its whole surface and that both sides of the model are symmetrical. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Paint the intake duct and the blades before assembly, as once glued you will not reach them. The leading lip of the intake on airliners tends to be unpainted, so a metallic shade on a smooth glossy base comes in handy. On the cowling it pays to lay the decals onto gloss clear coat, otherwise matte edges form under the rim.
The set is supplied as a resin accessory, unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
