A photo-etched brass detail set from Aber in 1:16 scale for the Tiger II heavy tank in the version with the Porsche turret. The set reproduces the antimine wire screen (Drahtgeflecht) over the cooling grilles of the engine compartment and adds several further photo-etched parts. It is an accessory, not a tank kit.
The Tiger II (Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf. B, Königstiger) was built among other forms with the early Porsche turret, which had a characteristic curved front plate. The antimine screens over the engine deck gave protection against mines and grenades being thrown in and in 1:16 scale show to advantage only in fine photo-etched metal.
Separate the parts from the fret, bend the fine mesh exactly to the shape of the grilles and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the metal before painting and lay down a primer; an airbrush is recommended.
The set is an accessory, not a model. The kit of the tank, glues and paints are not included in the package.
