TIGER46 — painting masks for a striped pattern 1:16 (Solid Scale)

A set of painting masks from the German manufacturer Solid Scale for spraying an irregular striped pattern described as tiger-like. This is an accessory for painting, not a kit. This variant is enlarged for 1:16 scale, that is for large static models and for models with remote control. The widths of the stripes and their spacing are adapted to large surfaces, on which a pattern from a smaller scale would look inappropriately fine.

Use

• On large models, lay the layout out dry first and pace out where the stripes will run over the turret and the hull.
• Let the base shade dry for longer than on small models; a heavier coat dries more slowly.
• Press the edges of the masks down along their whole length, and on long lines work from the middle toward the ends.
• Spray the second shade at a right angle and in two passes; on large surfaces watch for a constant distance of the nozzle, otherwise the saturation changes.
• Take the mask off shortly after it has dried and store it flat for further use.

Who the set is for

For builders of large models in 1:16 scale, whether static or with remote control. In this scale every inaccuracy in the masking shows, so using masks pays off more than it does on small models. The film is low-tack and will take repeated use.

On large models it pays to mask in sections and keep checking that the pattern carries over, rather than cover the whole surface at once and discover a mistake only after taking the film off.

Paints and glue are not included in the package. The model the pattern is applied to is sold separately.
