Tanker trailers are standard equipment of long-distance road haulage. They carry fuel and other liquid loads, they have their own piping, valves and a control cabinet, and in service they run hitched behind a tractor unit. It is precisely this technical equipment that makes a tanker a rewarding subject on a model, because it offers a great many small details in a small space.
It is a kit of a trailer in 1:24 scale, that is in the scale in which trucks and their trailers are usually built. The model can therefore be combined with other kits of the same scale into a whole rig. The number of parts, the contents of the box and the build sequence are described in the manufacturer's instructions. A large scale means a large model, so plan where you will put it once it is finished.
On tankers most of the work is on the shell of the tank. A circular cross-section reveals every imperfect joint, so fill and sand the joints step by step through several grits and polish the surface at the end. A gloss finish needs a smooth base, otherwise any flaws are emphasized even more after spraying. Leave the railings, the piping and the hoses until the end of the build so that they do not get broken while handling it. Wash and degrease the whole model before painting. It suits the chassis and the axles to be darkened with a dust shade, because the underside of the vehicle is the dirtiest part in service.
The kit suits builders of trucks and collectors of large scales who want to add another element of a rig to their tractor. Paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
