A plastic kit of the Toyota Corolla Levin AE86 in the 1600GT APEX trim of 1983, in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi. This is the version of Wataru Akiyama's car from the famous Japanese series Initial D, which turned the light rear-wheel-drive AE86 into a legend of mountain roads.
The AE86 is the last generation of the Corolla with rear-wheel drive — a light coupe with a 1.6-liter twin-cam engine that became an icon of drifting and of Japanese car culture thanks to its balanced chassis. The Levin differs from its sister the Trueno in having fixed headlights instead of pop-up ones. In the series Initial D Wataru Akiyama drives precisely the Levin and ranks among the hero's prominent rivals, so the model fits a collection of cars from the series beautifully alongside the famous Trueno in its panda finish.
Spray the body over a primer in light coats and give it a gloss coat before the decals. The boxy shapes of the AE86 mask up well, so you can manage the two-tone division with tape. The interior comes out well in matte shades with the dashboard detail picked out, and metallic colors will finish off the wheels and the chassis.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
