A kit of injection-molded plastic in 1:24 scale from the Japanese maker Aoshima. The subject is a small sports vehicle with the type designation PG6SA from 1992, sold under the Autozam brand, that is one of the sales brands of the Mazda group. It is for this reason that the trade brand is given in the name of the item only after the type and the year; it is a convention of notation, not a mistake. Check the particular number of parts, the extent of the decals, the treatment of the interior and the presence of an engine with the manufacturer before buying.
The Autozam AZ-1 belonged to the Japanese kei class, that is the smallest tax category with strictly limited dimensions and engine capacity. Even so it was a genuine small sports vehicle, with a mid-mounted turbocharged three-cylinder engine, plastic body panels and above all with doors opening upward, which gave it an unmistakable look. It was produced only briefly and in small numbers, so today it is a valuable curiosity of Japanese automobile history and a very popular subject among modelers.
The body is small and broken up, so work with thin coats of paint, so that the engraved lines and the gaps around the doors do not get clogged. Sand the mold parting lines carefully before painting; on a small model even a slight unevenness comes across generously. The glazing on this vehicle is prominent, so glue the clear parts with glue intended for clear plastic and polish them before the build. With the doors that open upward it pays to try them dry before gluing, so that they sit symmetrically. Tell the interior apart with contrasting shades; with a small cabin there is a very good view through the window.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
