The Nissan KDR30 Skyline Super Silhouette 1982 is an injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Aoshima. The subject is a circuit special built to the rules of the Japanese Super Silhouette series.

The Aoshima plastic kit in 1:24 scale captures the Nissan Skyline of the R30 generation in the factory designation KDR30, in the form of a racing special from the 1982 season. The model is supplied to be glued and painted. Go through the contents of the box, the number of parts and the extent of the decal sheet against the enclosed instructions once unpacked.
The Japanese Super Silhouette series came at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s out of the rules of Group 5. Of the production car essentially only the outline of the roof and the doors was left: the body received wide fender extensions, massive front and rear wings and a flat floor panel, under which a tube structure was hidden. The Skyline in the KDR30 configuration was powered by a turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine of the LZ family, that is a unit with no direct link to the engine of the production car. The cars of the series were among the most striking circuit machines of their day and their look is instantly recognizable even decades later.
A wide body with aerodynamic features calls for careful sanding of the parting lines, because every transition shows on large areas. Glue with thin cement for polystyrene and fill the seams between the fender extensions and the body with putty, otherwise dark lines will arise once painted. Lay the base down with a filler primer, spray the paint with an airbrush in thin coats and deal with the color transitions of the racing design using masking tape with a sharp edge. Lay the decals onto a gloss coat and set them with a decal softener, so that they bed into the pressings. Finish the wheels and the tires separately and fit them only at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
