An injection-molded plastic kit of the racing Skyline GTS-R in a boxing devoted to its entry in the European Touring Car Championship of the 1988 season. The model comes from the Japanese maker Hasegawa, which has the R31 generation covered in a wider series of boxes, from production forms to circuit racers with various sponsor markings. The Skyline GTS-R was a homologation special of the R31 generation built in a limited series so that the brand could enter a modified car under Group A rules. Compared with the ordinary versions it got a turbocharged inline-six with a reworked intake and exhaust, completed with aerodynamic body parts. The drive stayed at the rear axle, which made the car a lively and rewarding machine to watch on the circuits. In the second half of the 1980s such homologation examples were among the most interesting things Japanese makers offered, and their racing versions appeared outside Japan as well, including in European touring car events.
An angular 1980s body needs sharp edges, so when sanding the parting lines work in a way that does not round them off. Lay the base finish on smoothly, and the sponsor decals will then settle without silvering. Aerodynamic extras and lower skirts are often in a shade different from the body, so mask them precisely. The interior with its cage is visible through the windows, and the wire and metal parts take a darker metallic shade. The wheels with their wide tires stand out if you do the rims in a polishable metallic paint and leave the sidewall of the tire matte.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
