An injection-molded plastic kit of the first-generation circuit Celica in a boxing devoted to the winning car of the Guia race in Macau in 1975. The model comes from the Japanese maker Hasegawa, which has the Celica 1600GT covered in a series of boxes from production forms to racing conversions. The contents of the package, the number of parts and the extent of the decal sheet are stated on the box.
The first-generation Celica was presented at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s as an affordable sports coupe with the classic layout, that is a front engine and rear-wheel drive. The 1600GT grade was powered by a 1600 cc four-cylinder with twin overhead camshafts, which was among the best worked-out Japanese engines of its day. The car made its name in circuit as well as rally events, because it was light, well balanced and easy to set up. The Guia race is run in the streets of Macau on a very narrow and unforgiving street circuit, where precision and staying out of trouble decide victory rather than outright power, which always suited light cars with a good chassis.
A racing coupe of the 1970s tends to have simpler graphics than later cars, which makes a clean finish and sharp boundaries between the color fields all the more important; it pays to mask them with good tape. The flared fenders and the spoiler are well completed by a dark matte anti-glare panel on the hood. Leave the interior with its cage and single seat matte; the belts can be suggested with thin strips. Wheels with deep rims and wide tires are typical of the period; do the rims in a polishable metallic paint. A light hint of rubber pickup and marks on the lower edges will give the car a racing atmosphere without overdoing it.
