An injection-molded plastic kit of the stately Japanese Toyota Crown sedan in 1:24 scale. Aoshima is among the Japanese leaders in car kits, and the Crown is one of the pillars of its program of civilian cars. The designations GRS214 and AWS210 refer to two type lines of the fourteenth generation, that is to the version with a gasoline six-cylinder and to the hybrid version. The exact number of parts, the extent of the sprues and the contents of the decal sheet can be found in the instructions.
The Toyota Crown is the brand's flagship sedan, built since the middle of the 1950s. In Japan it serves as an upper-class car, but also as a taxi and as an official car of the state administration. The generation with the internal designation S210 was sold from 2012 to 2018 and in 2015 went through an update of the front grille and the equipment. The GRS214 type carried a gasoline six-cylinder of 3.5 liters, while the AWS210 type combined a four-cylinder of 2.5 liters with an electric motor in a hybrid drivetrain. The prominent shield-shaped grille is the characteristic recognition feature of this generation.
With a civilian sedan it is above all the paintwork that decides the result. A filler primer, wet sanding and several thin coats of color pay off, followed by a gloss varnish and polishing. Glue the parts with a thin cement for polystyrene, which is drawn into the joint and leaves no run marks; on clear parts use a glue intended for transparent plastics. The chrome trim strips, the window frames and the grille are better painted separately and fitted at the end of the build. The interior will be brought to life by matte shades and a fine accentuation of the edges with a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
