An accessory set of metal parts for detailing the engine area of a model of the Williams FW14 single-seater in 1:24 scale. Intended for building up a model already under way.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Williams FW14 is a Formula 1 single-seater that the Williams team built for the 1991 season. It combined an aerodynamically clean body with a Renault V10 and a semi-automatic gearbox, that is with technology that was only then finding its way into racing. The engine area is a rewarding place to detail on this car, because the rear end tends to be clearly visible on a finished model.
It is an accessory set intended for working up the engine of a model in 1:24 scale. The name of the set gives a metal execution of the parts, so the parts are not polystyrene and are glued with cyanoacrylate glue or two-part epoxy. The exact list of parts and the recommended assembly procedure are given in the manufacturer's description and in the enclosed instructions.
Wash and degrease the metal parts before gluing, so that both paint and glue hold well. Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest. On metal it pays to apply a base coat first and only then the shades of the engine block, the gearbox and the ancillaries. Assemble the small parts with tweezers and try the whole thing dry first, because a metal part cannot easily be moved once cyanoacrylate glue has set.
Paints, glue and thinners are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The extent of the parts supplied is given in the manufacturer's description.
