About product

Four-color lozenge with canvas texture in 1:32 scale

A decal sheet with the camouflage pattern commonly known as lozenge. It is a system of colored polygons that the German air service printed directly onto the covering fabric at the end of the First World War instead of a hand-applied coat of paint. This sheet carries the four-color variant of the pattern and is rendered in 1:32 scale.

What the canvas texture adds

The sheet is printed with the structure of the cloth, so once applied it does not pretend to be a smooth film but a stretched covering. In the large 1:32 scale that difference reads clearly: a smooth area would betray that the pattern is merely stuck on. The structure also responds better to toning and to accenting the shades, because the paint holds in the recesses of the weave.

  • A decal sheet in 1:32 scale for aircraft models
  • The four-color variant of the lozenge pattern
  • The print carries the texture of fabric covering
  • A wet transfer, applied after a short water bath
  • The extent of the sheet and its intended use are described in the manufacturer's instructions

How to apply the sheet

Overcoat the area under the transfer with gloss varnish, otherwise white patches will appear under the film. Cut out the individual pieces with a narrow margin and soak them one at a time so that the sheet does not fall apart in the water. After a few seconds let the piece rest until it can be slid off the backing, settle it on the damp area and press the water out with a cloth from the center to the edges. Over the ribs and the rivets a decal softener helps the film settle; let it work and do not move the piece any more. Finally overcoat the area so that the edges disappear.

Who it is for

For the modeler who is building an aircraft of the First World War period in a large scale and wants an even pattern across the whole area. Painting the polygons by hand takes a long time and rarely comes out the same on both wings.

The package contains a decal sheet. The model, paints, varnish and decal softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.

It is a wet transfer. Cut out the piece, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds, let it rest and slide it onto gloss varnish. A decal softener helps on a textured surface.

The name gives only the 1:32 scale and the variant of the pattern; it does not specify a kit. The intended use is given in the instructions enclosed with the sheet.
