A set of airbrush masks in 1:32 scale for the PT-17 Kaydet kit from Roden. They are applied before spraying, and the kit is sold separately.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set of airbrush masks is intended for the kit of the Boeing-Stearman PT-17 Kaydet biplane from Roden in 1:32 scale. According to the name it covers the insignia and markings, that is, the features otherwise transferred with a decal. The extent of the masks and their placement on the model are given in the instructions enclosed with the set.
The PT-17 Kaydet is an American biplane trainer on which whole year groups of pilots went through their training. It is precisely on training machines that the markings tend to be striking and make up a substantial part of the final look of a model, so it pays to give them attention.
Apply the masks onto a clean, degreased surface before spraying and press the edges down carefully so that paint does not run underneath. Spray the area under the insignia with an opaque shade, let it dry and only then apply the color of the insignia itself, otherwise the shade will sink into the darker finish. Apply the paint in thin coats, as a heavy coat peels at the edge of the mask. Once the spraying is done, take the mask off carefully with an angled pull.
The set suits builders who want the insignia sprayed rather than transferred with a decal. A sprayed insignia has no glossy edge of carrier film, it does not pull together on ribbed covering and it takes matting and weathering better. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
