Eduard 1:32 Curtiss P-40N Kittyhawk gun bays — a photo-etched set of the wing gun bays for the model of the P-40N in 1:32 scale from Czech Eduard.
Responsibility details are not available.
This photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard makes it possible to open the wing gun bays on the model of the Curtiss P-40N Kittyhawk in 1:32 scale. The photo-etched parts create the internal structure of the bays and their cover panels, so you can build the model as the machine looked while being armed and maintained on a field airstrip, with the armament in the wings uncovered.
The Curtiss P-40N fighter carried onboard armament made up of 12.7 mm Browning machine guns housed in the wings. Access to them was provided by large panels on the upper surface of the wing that the mechanics opened when replenishing ammunition, and that is why open gun bays are a rewarding subject for dioramas and for stand-alone models alike.
Expect an open presentation as a rule to call for cutting the cover panels out of the plastic wing; work with a new blade and sand the opening out gradually. Glue the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue, and degrease them and use primer before painting. The interior of the bays is brought to life by a fine wash and traces of wear from use.
This is a supplementary photo-etched set; the base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
