Behind the designation Have Glass hides one of the least conspicuous grays of modern aviation, and the acrylic shade FS 36170 Have Glass Grey from Lifecolor brings it onto a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Under the name Have Glass runs a program of surface treatments for American fighter aircraft that has most visibly marked the F-16: they received a uniform darker coat in which the earlier two-color division almost disappears. The shade Have Glass Grey carries the number of the American Federal Standard 36170 in its name and it is a neutral gray without a conspicuously warm or cool tinge.
Low-visibility grays have one property in common: on the large smooth area of a wing or a fuselage even a slight difference of tone reads as a visible blotch. A transition between two panels that nobody would notice in a varied camouflage becomes the main artistic means here. When the whole airframe is in a single gray, all the visual interest is carried precisely by the grid of panels, the boundaries of covers and the fine differences in the reflectivity of the surface.
For builders of modern jet aircraft who want to tune the whole airframe into one tone and work with it at the level of fine differences. It will also be appreciated by modelers whose palette lacks a neutral gray without a color undertone.
