A set of pre-cut masking templates for a model of the de Havilland DH.82A Tiger Moth biplane in 1:32 scale from the maker HGW. It is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory to a kit. Which areas the set covers is described in the enclosed instructions — follow them when masking. In this scale line HGW commonly designates its masking sets only by the name of the aircraft, so the absence of the word masks in the name is a convention with this brand.
The DH.82A Tiger Moth is a British trainer biplane of the 1930s with open cockpits and an inline engine. It served as a basic school machine of the Royal Air Force and of a number of other countries, and after the war it spread among civilian clubs, where it flies to this day. Its characteristic features are upper wings set with sweepback, fabric covering and simple fixed landing gear.
Degrease the areas before masking and let them dry completely. Lift the masks out with tweezers, lay them on dry and press them down with a wooden stick or a toothpick, so that they seat even where the surface curves. Spray the paint in thin coats — a thick coat likes to run under the edge of a mask and leaves a step once it is removed. Take a mask off at a sharp angle while the paint is not fully cured. With a biplane it pays to plan the order of painting in advance, because once the upper wing is in place you can no longer get at some places.
This is not a kit. The package contains only masking templates; the model, paints and glue are not part of it. Before buying, check that the set matches your kit.
