The set brings a 3D printed and already painted instrument panel together with the related cockpit details of the reconnaissance version of the Mustang. The carrier is decal paper and the parts transfer onto the model like a decal. This is not an airplane kit but an accessory that assumes a basic model in 1:32 scale.
The F-6D is the reconnaissance variant of the single-seat Mustang with a bubble canopy. The cockpit therefore follows the fighter workstation: a flat panel with flight and engine dials, controls between them, a console with throttle and trim on the left side and a gunsight above the panel. The difference from the pure fighter version is not in the layout of the dial faces but in the small additional equipment tied to operating the cameras. The bubble canopy is the most critical circumstance on the model, because there is nowhere to hide under the clear part and a weakly finished panel spoils the impression of the whole model.
Because the cockpit is open along its whole length, clean work is what decides. Trim the panel so that no light edge of the carrier is left anywhere, and work on a degreased and glossy surface. Before you close the canopy, let the panel dry thoroughly and clear the area of dust, because every speck is magnified under the clear part. If you decide to fix the panel with a clear coat, choose a matte or satin sheen so that no reflections form in the dial face and spoil a photograph of the model.
The accessory is supplied without the kit, paints and glue. Check the fit with the Tamiya kit in 1:32 scale beforehand.
