A figure of a dead horse in 1:35 scale from the animal range. An accessory for a diorama of a battlefield or of a retreating column.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a figure of a dead horse lying down in 1:35 scale, carried in the animal range under the order number six. Horses were still the main draft power of most armies in the Second World War: they pulled guns, field kitchens and supply wagons, and there were more of them in a column than motor vehicles. That is precisely why a scene like the one this figure captures belongs to a truthful picture of a battlefield.
A diorama of a battlefield, a shattered column, the side of a road or the yard of a farm. A lying animal has a low silhouette, so it can be used even where a standing figure would break the composition: it fills an empty foreground and leads the viewer's eye toward the main model. In a scene it is a strong element to be worked with sparingly, so that the scene does not slide into a facile effect.
Cut off the surplus material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and carefully sand the remainder so that the coat and the direction of its hair are preserved. Before painting, wash the figure in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let it dry. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts. A horse's coat builds up nicely from a brown base through a dark wash into the hollows to a gentle dry brush along the edges of the ribs and joints. Leave the whole animal matte and use a sheen only spot by spot, on the eye and on the nostrils. Choose the color according to the breed you pick for the scene, because the range runs from dun to almost black.
For builders of dioramas who are building a battlefield or rear-area scene and want the scene to tell a story even without figures. Paints, glue and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
