A set for the Fw 190A-8 in 1:32 scale. It contains masks for the glazing and the insignia and two metal barrels with a genuinely shaped muzzle.
Responsibility details are not available.
The heaviest form of the A-8 was the machines modified for attacking formations of four-engine bombers from close in. They received armored glass along the sides of the cockpit, steel plates on the sides of the fuselage and, in place of the 20 mm cannons in the wing, weapons of 30 mm caliber whose shells could tear a bomber's airframe apart with a few hits. The pilots of these units closed to a distance where the target no longer fitted into the gunsight, and some finished the attack by ramming. The added mass slowed the aircraft down so much that it needed a fighter escort of its own.
In the package there is a pair of masks for the glazing for both sides, two films for the insignia with them and a pair of metal barrels for the weapons above the engine.
An injection mold has to open, and so there must be nothing on the part that would stay stuck in it. Every undercut, every step at a sharp angle and every ring wider than what follows behind it has to be simplified in a kit or left out altogether. On a barrel the steps between the individual sections and the thickening at the muzzle are what suffer. A turned part has no such condition, because the tool runs over the surface and takes the material away from outside; a step can therefore be sharp and exactly where it was on the real weapon. That is precisely why even an unpainted metal barrel looks richer than a plastic one a modeler has sprayed perfectly. A shadow in a sharp edge does more for the impression of a model than any shade of paint.
