A masking set in 1:32 scale for a model of the Swedish Saab J 29 Tunnan jet fighter aircraft, versions B and F.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Saab J 29 was among the first European jet fighter aircraft with a swept wing. The Swedish Air Force introduced it at the turn of the forties and fifties and kept it in service for many years in several progressively improved versions; two of them, B and F, are stated in the name of this set. For its bulky fuselage the aircraft was given a nickname after the barrel, which it carries in its name Tunnan.
A mask replaces the laborious cutting and shaping of tape. The individual shapes are prepared in advance, so it is enough to transfer them to the model, press the edges down and spray. The transition of the paint then comes out sharp and the same on both sides of the model, which is hard to keep up freehand. On clear parts a mask also protects the transparent surface from being needlessly fogged with paint.
Stick the mask onto a clean, dry and degreased surface before spraying. Press the edges down carefully so that paint does not creep under them, and spray several thin coats rather than one; a single thick coat gets under the edge far more easily. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, not after several days, and lift it with the tip of a toothpick or with tweezers so that the finish underneath is not torn away.
What is supplied is the masking set. Paints, thinners and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
