Photo-etched metal parts for the cockpit interior of a P-51D model in 1:32 scale, prepared for the late production batches of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The P-51D is the most widespread form of the American Mustang fighter, recognizable at first glance by the bubble canopy and the cut-down rear fuselage. The pilot sat in it practically in a shop window, so on a model in a large scale the cockpit is visible from every side and anything that is missing in it or too thick hits the eye.
These are photo-etched metal parts for the cockpit interior in 1:32 scale, prepared for the late production batches of the aircraft, that is, for blocks 20 to 35. Photo-etching allows the elements to be rendered in a thickness that injection-molded plastic cannot reach, and with sharp edges. Which plastic parts are replaced and what is cut away from the model is described in the instructions supplied; it pays to read through them before the fuselage halves are glued together.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and bend them along the etched grooves, ideally in a photo-etch bending tool or over the edge of a ruler. They are bonded with super glue; polystyrene cement does not hold on metal. Degrease the parts before painting and spray them with primer. Finish the cockpit and let it dry before closing the fuselage; later you will not get into it.
The set is for builders who want in the cockpit what is in the photographs of the real machine and who do not mind working with tweezers. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
