Wood shows in plenty of places on models of older aircraft: on the floor and the side panels of the cockpit, on the internal structure, on the stiffeners and on plywood-covered areas. Painting a faithful drawing of growth rings with a brush is slow work, and on two parts side by side the result is hard to unify. A printed sheet shortens it: the pattern is printed in a density matching 1:32 scale and comes out the same on every part.
The motif is pine wood, that is a light drawing with a visible difference between the summer and the winter growth and with distinct knots. The addition to the designation points to a faded tone, that is to wood that has lost its saturation with age and sun. It therefore suits anywhere the surface should not look like fresh varnish but like a well-worn area. The final impression is also affected by the base the sheet lies on, so choose a light and uniform color and test the shade on an offcut before you touch the finished part.
It is a wet transfer. The surface under it has to be smooth, clean and degreased; on a grainy surface the pattern breaks up. Cut off a piece slightly larger than you need, soak it in water, let it rest and slide it off the paper onto the moistened spot. Straighten the position with a soft brush, blot the excess water and let the joint dry undisturbed. Plan the direction of the pattern in advance so that the growth rings run along the part, not across it. Choose the decal softener and the overcoat according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
