A printed sheet in 1:32 scale with a wood grain in a light natural shade, carrying the designation Pine Tree. It replaces laborious painting of the wooden areas of a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Wood is hard to paint on a model. The basic shade goes on easily, but the pattern of the growth rings and the fine veining cost even an experienced modeler an evening of work, and the result comes out different every time. A printed sheet shortens this step: you move a wood grain in a light natural shade onto the area straight away, in a uniform look and in a scale matching the ratio 1:32.
On areas that are meant to read as wood. On aircraft models these are most often plywood skins, cockpit floors and walls or propeller blades; but it finds a use anywhere a wooden surface is wanted and the area is flat enough or only slightly curved.
Cut out the part with a small overlap so that it can be aligned once laid on. Prepare the surface underneath smooth and glossy; on matte paint silvery patches will appear under the print. Soak the part briefly, let it stand, slide it onto the area and press the water out with a soft cloth from the center toward the edges. A decal softener helps the decal to settle onto edges and transitions. Once dry, cover the area with varnish, which evens the gloss out with the surroundings. The shade of the wood can be fine-tuned with a thin glaze.
For modelers who build in a large scale and want their wooden areas faithful but do not want to paint them by hand. It pays to keep the rest of the sheet, as it comes in useful for small areas of further models later on.
The model, paints, decal softener and varnish are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
