Hauler 1:72 T-80/T-80V is a photo-etched detail set for a plastic kit of the Soviet main battle tank in 1:72 scale. It is an aftermarket accessory that refines the detail of the base kit, not the model itself.

A photo-etched set from the Czech maker Hauler for a kit of the T-80 tank in 1:72 scale. It is cut for a particular kit, the Revell one, so the parts follow the shapes of the plastic without any need to measure and adjust. The set in itself is not a model: it is a set of replacement and additional parts that in plastic are either missing or necessarily too coarse.
A modern battle tank is optically complex above all in its fine surface detail: the grilles over the engine compartment, the grab handles, brackets, sheet-metal covers and protective elements. An injection mold can only suggest these things in 1:72, as a solid grille merges into a surface and grab handles have a diameter several times larger than in reality. Photo-etched sheet in hundredths of a millimeter can give a genuinely see-through grille and a thin section, which in a small scale is the most visible difference between a build out of the box and a worked-up model.
The T-80 is a Soviet main battle tank introduced in the second half of the 1970s. It was the first series-produced tracked combat hardware with a gas turbine as its main power unit, which gave it high performance and quick acceleration at the cost of higher consumption. The armament consists of a 125 mm smoothbore gun with an autoloader. Later forms received additional explosive reactive armor on the turret and the front of the hull.
Work from the parts that lie lowest upward, as otherwise you will no longer reach them. Do not snip the fret but cut through it with a scalpel on a glass or metal surface. Make the bends exactly in the etched groove. Glue with cyanoacrylate, taking a drop with a pin from a spare surface; never squeeze the glue straight onto the part. Degrease the metal before painting and spray on a primer. Grilles turn out best when a dark paint is sprayed underneath them before they are fitted, as that creates an impression of depth.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
