A masking set for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I fighter in 1:32 scale, intended for the kit from Hasegawa.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I was the first production version of the British fighter, and in this form it took part in the Battle of Britain. It carried eight 7.7 mm machine guns in the wings and differs from later variants in its narrow framed canopy and in the clean shape of the elliptical wing with no cannon bulges.
A masking set for the Spitfire Mk.I in the large 1:32 scale, intended for the kit from Hasegawa. Which areas the set masks and where the individual parts go is given in the manufacturer's instructions; sort them out in advance according to them and leave the unused ones on the backing so that they do not pick up dust or go missing.
The masks belong on a finished, washed and degreased surface, and they go on before spraying. Press the edges down all the way round; a seeping edge is the most common reason masking has to be done again. Spray in thin coats and let the paint flash off briefly between them. Lift the mask at the moment the paint is only dry to the touch and pull it back at an angle over itself. Put any overrun right with a fine brush once it is off.
Modelers who want precise boundaries between color areas without cutting masking tape by hand will appreciate it. In the large 1:32 scale the parts are easy to handle and the result shows well on the finished model, because both the glazed and the painted areas are larger here than on smaller models. The kit, paints, glue and thinner are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
