HGW Transparent - an imitation of fabric structure 1:32

This set is not a model of an aircraft but a decorative decal film in 1:32 scale. The transparent decal is applied over an already clear-coated surface and gives it the fine structure of woven fabric without changing the color underneath. It suits wherever you want to keep your own shade and still gain a faithful relief of the covering. It is made by the Czech firm HGW.

The real subject

Aircraft with fabric covering had on their surface the characteristic woven structure of taut, dope-stiffened material. On a smoothly sprayed plastic model this relief is missing, which gives away an artificial look. A transparent texture layer supplies it without your having to repaint the surface.

Use and tips

Apply it to a smooth, clear-coated and dry base, ideally with a decal softener for perfect adhesion to the shape. Work with plenty of water, shape the decal carefully over the edges and, once dry, fix it with a clear coat if need be. It is also suitable locally, on the fabric-covered areas alone.
