Techmod White Decal - decal film with a white base

Sheets of decal film from the Polish manufacturer Techmod with an opaque white base. It is not finished markings, a model or a kit: it is a modeling material on which you print your own decals. The white base solves the basic limitation of ordinary printers: they do not print white, so on clear film every light motif stays translucent. On white film, by contrast, the colors keep their saturation even on a dark base.

Use

• printing your own national insignia, numbers and lettering where white has to be solid
• markings for dark camouflages, where clear film would not cover
• sponsor logos and colored printing on automobiles and motorcycles
• making markings for machines for which no finished decals are produced

How to work with the film

The film is meant for laser printing. After printing, let the area rest and fix it with several thin layers of clear spray varnish, as without fixing the print would smear in water. Because the base is white and opaque, the motif has to be cut out exactly along its outline; any overhang will show on the model as a white rim. Immerse the cut-out decal for a few seconds in lukewarm water, let it rest and slide it onto the dry gloss coat of the model. Draw the surplus water off, use a softener on engraved lines and finally even the model out with a matte or semi-gloss coat.

Who the film is for

For modelers who make their own markings and are not willing to put up with translucent white. The printing decides the size of the motif, so the material suits work outside 1:32 as well, the scale under which it is carried.

This is a modeling material, not a model. A printer, paints and varnish are not included in the package.
